Trout Stream - John's Creek

The Black Diamond Property Owners Association maintains a privately stocked trout stream, Johns Creek, for the enjoyment of its residents.

A section of Johns Creek that starts at Maggie and flows through the common area for about two miles is fully stocked with large rainbow trout, brown, and brook trout.  There are several easy access points for wading or fishing from the bank.

The stream is stocked twice a year and maintained by the Property Owners Association.  It is catch and release only, and barbless hooks must be used.  Access is restricted to property owners and their families.  A Virginia fishing license is required. Check out our fishing guide for more information.

An extraordinarily productive trout stream that you can well compare with the best ones you’ve fished anywhere.

Watching seasoned fly fishermen and women is art in motion. Even beginners enjoy great catches here, and watching kids fishing is also a great spectator sport.

This great fishery was once owned by the Ratliff family who maintained it as a pay-to-fish stream (see articles below). Now maintained by the Black Diamond POA exclusively for its members.
